Hello.

Has suggestions on NovaBoard:)
NovaBoard can only keep track of conversations through PayPal, and here everyone follow the forum via RSS feed.
Can not you would make such an option as it is in tracking MyBB or similar or make the forum an RSS feed?
Waiting for your opinion:)

Witam.

Pozdrawiam

Hi rafael,

Yeah it's a good point, something we are definitely looking into.

We'll try and get 1.1.5 out when we can, but yes, it has been set back a little bit because we haven't been able to chat amongst staff about different aspects etc.

Thanks for sticking with us :-)

No, we will release 1.1.5 and any neccessary patches to the 1.1.X series while we're working on 2.0. As soon as NovaBoard 2.0 is released, I believe that 1.1.X will just be an older version in the repository, as 2.0 will be a complete rewrite.

Good idea - I'll get someone to have a go at this now for us. We do have one or two threads saying who does what, but that's changed quite a lot now.

During the summer I'm restructuring things such as the staff and the forums, so a few things might change. We've got a lot of excess stuff that we don't need :-)

Well languages will take quite a long time to get a good enough number up, but it'll be worth it. Any language would be good to start with.

Text files have infinite possibilities as databases, its just the matter of getting it right. SQLite may not have some functions of MySQL, but it's a VERY big system and lots of people use it. We can't just skip it like that.

Usually, 3rd party developers create 'bridges' for two sets of software. However, a reason we're not developing NovaCore at the moment (partly our own CMS system) is because James wishes to have NovaBoard 2.0 integrate with WordPress. It'll be a long time before thats fully ready though, sorry. It means a total rewrite to get a good bridge.

I beg to differ. at the moment, as software, SMF is better BY FAR. If you know a bit of PHP it isn't confusing at all; we may get to a 'confusing' stage in a year or two when we add more things to it, but hey, who knows?

Thanks for the words, we'll make the next versions of NovaBoard even better!

<title>Some features I would like to see in the future</title>
    <link>
http://community.novaboard.net/index.php?page=findpost&amp;post=3889
</link>
    <description>
A few of these features/fixes are currently planned for 1.1.5:

- Custom BBCodes
- Change allowed uploaded file types.
- Sortable memberlist

Using the custom bbcodes and file types option together will allow for things like listening directly to attached mp3's (as mentioned in the first post).

If anyone has any other features they would like to see added feel free to post them. We won't be implementing any big changes as they will be more suitable for the 2.0 release, but if there are any slight changes that could improve NovaBoard, tell us :)

I just looked at the Issue list of your project and I saw a lot of milestones.
http://code.google.com/p/novaboard/issues/list#
What's the point of having people working on Release 1.2, 1.3 others on 2.0 and NovaCMS? Shouldn't you all be just working on one release candidate,you only have about 3 coders and 2 designers? Personally I would go with NovaBoard 2.0 &amp;quot;A New Era&amp;quot;.

There appears to be some confusion on who's working on what and when your going to release it. Also people are forgetting about some features, that they wanted to see. Theres also some very good ideas but not enough coders.

This is just my opinion as an outsider.

BTW i tried packaging via Source NovaBoard 1.1.3 I got an error last week. The error was a few lines of sql on a blank white page. I fixed that error by adding a semi-colon.

I have too much time on my hands &amp;gt;_&amp;gt;

Well doing that is a complete security thread, as you will allow anyone to put ?install.php=../index.php in the URL to remove the index or something similair. Using $_GET is useless anyway.. :p Just use &amp;quot;install.php&amp;quot;

Reece,

This software runs on a webserver - i.e. a website provider's computer (or on your own, but I doubt you want to do that).

Which provider are you with? You need to get the FTP details for your plan etc, and upload the extracted files to your webserver, then go to your website in a browser - the video shows you how to do all of this except for FTP'ing.

If you would like someone to install NovaBoard for you, just let me know via PM.

Well when new version is out &amp;amp; main site = done, get advertised :)

Frantastico is quite dead, but then again many still use it, so it will be good to be added.

yea i get that, main reason i wanted to use this forum was for the theme..

Not for the options but theme was nicely integrated. Without the theme the code is useless. If were going by code wolt lab destroys this.

<title>PNG vs GIF</title>

    <description>
We can't persuade them, but we can persuade our users. PNG's are better for animation, and IE6 is gladly dieing now, so there won't be many browser compatibility problems.

Also, saving a .PNG and .GIF isn't hard. Just save two of them when you make the image.

The extra flags should be there. Although I'm British, and there is the English, AND UK flag there, I still think it's biased to alot of countries.

I'll say it again. This needs to be DEFAULT, NOT A MODULE. Each community admin would change this to something totally different, so no point having it as a module.

Good tutorial, you should make a module out of this :P Or may I?
Personally, my forum only uses English, so the language changer is a waste of space for my site.

Hi Dreams, and thanks for your suggestions.

They are all good ideas - but it would spread out the conversation out way too thin. At the moment, we strike a good balance between separate categories for people to talk in, as well as a decent level of activity in each forum.

When NovaBoard grows in size, we will definitely be adding more 'areas'.

Things like this are being developed - I'm currently working on the main website anyway.

As for IRC: http://community.novaboard.net/topic/irc-live-support-131

Although I admit it's rarely frequented, so you're better off for the moment sticking to the forums.

Trust me - once we get a little bigger, everything will fall into place :-)

I agree with caleyjag on this one, the new logo is nice, but it just doesn't really fit very well. I say we stick with the old logo, because it's not really anything we NEED to change.

I think you should add some more general discussion forums such as a showcase for members to show off their forums.

Otherwise great job on the forum software. I'm going to start using it on my sites.

Essentially it will be just Email@address.com Which would then do the same as the url function except add mailto: and the start instead of http:// This would be a spam risk so I dunno what you could do for that but it's just an idea.
